Risk.net, January 2012: Fears over UK representation in Europe voiced in FCA report

Selwyn Blair-Ford, global head of regulatory policy at Wolters Kluwer Financial Services in London, sees the report as evidence of attempts to iron out any issues before the new regulators come into being. "The short-term implications with regards to the FSA winding down and splitting up could be that many feel they are dealing with a less engaged regulator," he says. "However, in our experience the FSA is proactively spurring the UK financial services industry to air their voices as the transition takes place. The industry and government could mitigate some of the long-term implications by being very clear on the issues and addressing them in the emerging regulatory structure now."

FT.com, 15th January 2012: Asian rules provide tough blueprint for Europe

“If you look at the capital and liquidity requirements across Asia it is pretty clear they are at the heart of Basel III,” notes Selwyn Blair Ford, global head of regulatory policy at Wolters Kluwer Financial Services. “The elements are not all found in one jurisdiction, but they are all there across 20 Asian countries.”
