Wolters Kluwer Adds DOJ’s Perez as Keynote and Emerging Fair Lending Topics to Colloquium Line-Up
Record Number of Regulators and Bank Compliance Pros Scheduled to Attend
BALTIMORE – Sept. 15, 2011 – Wolters Kluwer Financial Services announced today that Assistant Attorney General Thomas E. Perez, who heads up the U.S. Justice Department’s (DOJ’s) Civil Rights Division, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s CRA & Fair Lending Colloquium. In addition, several new sessions have been added to help financial organizations address emerging fair lending concerns. These include the DOJ’s increased emphasis on investigating potential redlining cases as well as the FFIEC’s decision to use 2010 Census data in 2012 HMDA data collection.
“Both topics have made headlines and become front of mind for bank compliance officers in the past month and therefore needed to be addressed at this year’s Colloquium,” said Raffi Festekjian, president of Wolters Kluwer Financial Services’ Risk & Compliance business. “The Colloquium is the premier event for bankers to discuss their most pressing consumer compliance and risk management concerns with top regulators like Assistant Attorney General Perez, regulatory agencies and other industry leaders.”
A record number of bank compliance professionals and regulators have registered already and the company anticipates that the 2011 Colloquium and registration for the event will need to be closed shortly due to capacity.
“We’re already on pace to top last year’s Colloquium, which was the most successful ever, in terms of the quality of the sessions, caliber of speakers in addition, and attendance level,” said Edward Kramer, executive vice president of Regulatory Programs for Wolters Kluwer Financial Services.
The 2011 Colloquium will feature sessions that cover the impact of the Dodd-Frank Act and other regulatory reform and oversight trends; the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA); fair lending requirements; and other consumer compliance concerns and best practices. Senior officials from each of the federal bank regulatory agencies are scheduled to speak. They include:
- Thomas E. Perez, assistant attorney general, DOJ, Civil Rights Division;
- Jon M. Seward, Deputy Chief, DOJ, Housing and Civil Enforcement Section, Civil Rights Division;
- Steve Antonakes, assistant director for Large Bank Supervision, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB);
