The Bribery Act

The Bribery Act came into full force on 1st July 2011 and has turned the previous multiple legislation on its head. The new Act brings in a zero tolerance regime for misconduct with tough penalties for potential offenders.

There are four new criminal offences:

  • Offering or paying a bribe
  • Requesting or receiving a bribe
  • Bribing a foreign public official
  • A corporate offence of failing to prevent bribery being undertaken on behalf of the firm because of inadequate preventative procedures

The act has a wide reaching remit as it also applies to those firms who have a presence in the UK. Therefore you need to ensure you and your staff are fully protected.

Wolters Kluwer Financial Services have a range of solutions available to help you meet these needs.
